Tamerlano

In January 2026, Handel’s Tamerlano debuts in Dubai in a unique cross-cultural reimagining by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation. Composer Kirill Richter blends Handel’s Baroque orchestration with the rich timbres of Uzbek traditional instruments, while director Stefano Poda creates an immersive staging inspired by Timurid architecture. Featuring over 160 performers, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, the State Choir, and the Uzbegim ensemble, the opera explores love, power, and destiny through a dialogue between East and West. This landmark production celebrates artistic excellence, cultural diversity, and international collaboration.

Steinway Series: Ravel. Svetlana Andreeva

On 11 January 2026, Dubai Opera Studio welcomes pianist Svetlana Andreeva for her Dubai debut, performing the luminous works of Maurice Ravel, including Le tombeau de Couperin, Miroirs, and Pavane pour une infante défunte. Acclaimed for her expressive depth and crystalline technique, Andreeva has won top prizes at the Rosario Marciano and Orléans International Piano Competitions. Part of the Steinway Prizewinner Concert Series, the recital will be performed on a Dubai Opera Limited Edition Steinway, promising an evening of elegance and refined artistry.

The Beginning by the UAE National Orchestra

In partnership with Dubai Opera, The Beginning marks the inaugural performance of the UAE National Orchestra (UAENO), uniting seventy musicians and thirty choral voices in a celebration of Emirati heritage and unity. The program features the world premiere of Nadim Tarabay’s Emirati Symphony “The Beginning”, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances in an oriental arrangement, and works by Naseer Shamma.
