<h3 style="line-height: 2;">Dubai has officially announced that alcohol sales tax will be back in affect starting January 2025.</h3>

After temporary suspension in 2022, Dubai Municipality has officially announced that the 30% alcohol sales tax will be reinstated at the start of next year. Restaurants and bars all over the city has received the news from local alcohol distribution companies, MMI and African+Eastern.

<h3 style="line-height: 2;">What does this mean for businesses and consumers?</h3>
&nbsp;
The suspension of alcohol sales tax in Dubai was effective from 2023 - 2024, during which restaurants, bars and hotels purchasing alcohol in Dubai have been paying 30% less than they did in 2022 and previous years, resulting in lower prices for customers, although not a flat 30% discount. This also meant a reduction of prices for customers at MMI and A+E stores.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
As of 1st of January, 2025, this reduction is no longer applicable with the expectant increase in prices for alcoholic beverages all over the city.
