Paris says goodbye to the 2024 Olympics with grand closing ceremony!

 

 

From the City of the Light to the City of Angels...

 

 

The closing ceremony was nothing short of spectacular, as the finale had to match the magnitude of the opening! The curtain falls on the Paris 2024 Olympics as the capital bids the games au revoir with a golden closing ceremony filled with all things action, magic, music and theatrical excellence. From Tom Cruise's flag stunt to Yseult's "My Way" performance, Paris concluded 2 weeks of excitement in an extraordinary star-studded way.

 

The Stade de France held the last moments of the 33rd edition of the modern Olympics where the flame was extinguised and fireworks signaled the closure of Paris 2024 and passover to LA 2028. Since July 26 up until yesterday, the whole world was plugged into all that's Paris Olympics with jaw-dropping games that went down history. French pride fills the air!

À la Hollywood style, Tom Cruise executed in a headlining act, a show-stealing stunt as he descended from the top of the Stade, to the tunes of the “Mission Impossible” theme song. 

 

With the purpose of taking the Olympic flag from star gymnast Simone Biles, putting it on the back of a motorcycle and driving out of the stadium, the symbolic gesture representing the handover to Los Angeles 2028.

4x Olympic gold medalist Leon Marchand extinguished the cauldron at the 2024 Paris Olympics!

 

The cauldron was located at the Tuileries Gardens, outside of the Louvre Museum nestled in the heart of Paris. Marchand extinguished the cauldron that was lit using LED lighting and smoke and then carried the Olympic flame which was in a gold, glass lantern, and made his way to the Stade de France stadium.

Zaho de Sagazan opens the ceremony by performing “Sous le Ciel de Paris,” which translates to “Under the Paris Sky."

 

The French musician performed inside the Tuileries Garden in Paris the song that was first written for the 1951 film of the same name and was later recorded by Edith Piaf.

French artist Kavinsky & Belgian singer Angèle join the ceremony stage for a rendition of the global hit "Nightcall".

 

As part of the many collaborative stunning music performances between Paris & Los Angeles.

A Golden Voyager, inspired by references from French history, stands atop a pile of masked dancers as the last Olympic ring is raised above the stage. 

 

When all the athletes from the competing countries entered the arena, the "Golden Voyager" was greeted by the same mysterious hooded figure who carried the torch in the Opening Ceremony, as well as the hooded silver figure who rode down the Seine on a silver horse.

French singer Yseult delivered a breathtaking performance of My Way at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games closing ceremony.

 

Dressed in an exquisite Dior Haute Couture ensemble that paid homage to the iconic fashion house’s rich history, Yseult's performance was the finale to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games that the world could have hoped for, blending high fashion with a powerful musical presence!

Alain Roche played the piano while suspended on wires hung from the Stade de France’s roof as another performer sings, in the meantime dancers were pushing the giant Olympic rings into position as the piano player was lowered back into the stage.

The French band Phoenix performed hits and collabs in the middle of the Stade de France in Paris.

 

Invaded by athletes who had rushed on to the stage, the French electro-pop band Phoenix kicked off a music set that included the Cambodian rapper VannDa. The French band from Versailles performed the song “If I Ever Feel Better” and “Funky Squaredance” featuring VannDa. The performance featured several special guests, including fellow French legends Air, who joined Phoenix to deliver “Playground Love” together.

Meanwhile in Los Angeles...

 

 

Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, performed their song “Birds of a Feather” in L.A. during the Olympic closing ceremonies.

And they definitely dropped it like it's hot! Snoop carried the Olympic torch in Paris ahead of the opening ceremony and he had something equally massive in store for the closing ceremony. Snoop performed his hit "Drop It Like It's Hot" before ending up onstage with Dr. Dre in front of the huge LA28 logo, which was just revealed with the France and USA flags.
