Could the beloved Dubai chocolate have broken the Pistachio industry?

Could a delectable little bar of chocolate lead to a global supply chain disruption? Well, that's the impact of the sweet and viral sensation that's taken over the world since its conception, FIX's Dubai pistachio chocolate frenzy might be the cause of a global pistachio supply chain shortage.

This beloved little sweet treat was created by a woman to satiate her pregnancy cravings in 2021. Co-founders of Fix Dessert Chocolatier, the official home of the Dubai chocolate, the British-Egyptian couple Sarah Hamouda and Yezen Alani are the brains behind the chocolate bar the whole world is still after.

This little bar of chocolate has taken the couple and their business to great local and international heights, with personal meetings with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Duty-Free pop-up, international imitation, and an exclusive corner of the chocolate market in the UAE!

"The pistachio world is basically tapped out"

The race to find the golden bar everywhere in the world has caused quite the uproar for the pistachio industry, with pistachio kerne prices rising from $7.65 per pound last year to approximately $10.30 per pound now. The rising prices come from an immense surge in retail demand, especially in the Gulf countries, Europe and Southeast Asia, with some retailers being forced to limiting the number of chocolate bars per customer.

Soon enough, chocolate giants and local luxury houses stepped in to pay their respects. LIDL, Lindt, Vocca, Läderach, Dunkin Donuts and many more brands launched their own version of Dubai chocolate, and while simply an imitation, it didn't stop the masses from buying them out in herds too.

A labour of love gave way to a unique formula for success that is driving the global Chocolatier industry to higher grounds of creativity and, once again, cementing Dubai as a hub of creativity and marvel.
