Air Taxis in Dubai? Well what's new, nothing is impossible in our city. Not too long ago, the official operation of the first air taxi station was announced to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and with that the construction of the first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport has just begun.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, announced on Tuesday, November 12: We commenced construction on Dubai’s first aerial taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport, in Sheikh Hamdan's post on X.
He further elaborated on the project with: Spanning 3,100 sqm, the facility will have the capacity to handle 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually. The initial phase will feature stations in Downtown, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah, with services launching in 2026. Dubai continues to shape the future of global mobility with its steadfast commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability.
Here's another first in the records of firsts for Dubai and the UAE; with this unprecedented initiative, Dubai will become the world’s first city to provide urban aerial transport through an advanced aerial taxi take-off and landing network.
The four strategic landing sites in Dubai are going to be: Dubai International Airport, Downtown, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah.
Skyports will collaborate on the development and designs of the air taxi stations, which will include dedicated take-off and landing areas, electric charging facilities, a dedicated passenger area and security procedures.
Among the biggest contribution that the service aims to achieve is...of course, the traffic!
With the main goal of easing traffic congestion in Dubai, the travel time is expected to be reduced from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah to a duration of only 10-12 minutes, whilst it takes uo to 45 minutes in today's road conditions.
