Alright Dubai, I know we're all here for that very happening new menu in town but first; aside from the fact that the walk to arrive to Ginger Moon, located within the W Dubai - Mina Seyahi is eye-appetizing and generally makes you work up an even bigger appetite, the venue in itself is gorgeously decorated with modern, artistic yet green and funky fresh interiors that are so matching and makes you instantly vibin'- don't get me started on the view - reflective of what an impressive hotspot this place surely is!
Onto the New Californian Cuisine Sharing Menu curated by Chef Stephane Buchholzer who is driven by a food movement filled with the freshest ingredients. Let's just say, if you like avocados then you have landed in the right place because you are going to love it and savor a whole lot of it. From Starters to Desserts, and in between all those signature Sips, you are going to be spellbound by the flavors we have tasted, for behind every bite a story, literally.
Avo Crust
This New Californian cuisine concept has not been seen in Dubai before, which is enough to transport you to another realm of relaxation and great vibes & with that being said, let's walk you through the highlights of this delicious dinner experience. Most importantly, the hospitality and service of the staff, prominently of the floor manager and Chef who have been kind and generous enough to eloquently explain to us an amazing ethos they live by- while making sure our entire accomodation was well-fulfilled and comfortable.
"More taste, less waste"
The menu is based on an eco-sustainability process that aims at using up every aspect of the ingredient in hand to produce a whole meal and no food waste at all. Drawing inspiration from the abundant produce, coastal seafood, and multicultural heritage of California, Ginger Moon’s new menu offered us a taste of this iconic culinary movement. Using 8 main components snacks, crust, cold vegetals, hot vegetals, starch, sharing, simply grilled and sweets.
Let's start with this scene: otherwise known as The Crushed Avo in the making.
Crushed Avo Dip
For starters, we were first welcomed that fluffy warm flatbread with zucchini and truffle and special avocado sauce, followed by the Vitello Tonnato, Wagyu Beef Toast and Burrata.
It was quite a refreshing moment when the live cooking setup was displayed in front of us and the crushed avo dip was served fresh off the crush! It was the perfect introduction to the very essence of Ginger Moon's New Californian Cuisine.
Wagyu Beef Toast
The Vitello Tonnato tasted just divine as the slow cooked veal melted in our mouths backed by the softness of the tuna cream, freshness yet peppery-bite of the arugula and crispy capers, finished by the rich smoky taste of the scamorza shaving. As we were already in a food trance, this was just the warm up as the flavors kept progressively getting even more interesting; the Wagyu Beef Toast came in a lovely W-shaped Japanese toast bite filled with the refined taste of smoked mayo, caviar and cured egg. Those were gone in a second, took the beef toast game to another level! My love for this Burrata will remain forever and mark my words it's going to be one of the main reasons you come back! The home-dried datterine and grape tomato beautifully paired with pine nuts, basil, tomato oil, & 20 year-old balsamic sauce were all layered on and around the cheese, balancing each bite with a symphony of flavors coming together at once.

Are you mouthwatering over this? We're already making our next booking because we are moving on to the Mains; at the centerpiece of the menu are innovative creations that stamped Ginger Moon's own bold identity amongst a raft of hotel restaurants in the city, and reflect the always fun, always playful nature of the W Hotels brand!
We had the black tea and sesame sticky chicken, the glaze on that dish was so smooth and those chicken bites were ever so delectable. However, the bigger star of the night is the grilled to perfection octopus which is enhanced with a homemade harissa romesco, offering a rich, smoky flavor that lingers on the palate, reminiscent of the bold culinary traditions of California’s coastal regions. We wiped that plate clean. This is hats off one of the absolute top Octopuses you can have in town.

Now let me stop you right there for a minute, rather let me pause you - before we make it to the Sweets, let us take in the view we were contemplating as we were having the unique Sips, we tried them all! The "Avocado", "Paloma" & "Aztec". Let's check them out as we quenched our thirst for signature cocktails to amazement with these special concoctions. I had never tasted something like the "Avocado" before.
Ginger Moon Infinity Pool
The Avocado is the chef's special made from mezcal, tequila, avocado shrub, lime & habanero sauce - this is an intense flavor-packed spicy cocktail that mesmerized our senses. The Paloma was as refreshing as ever with the silver tequila and grapefruit juice with a striking sparkle twisted with kaffir lime cordial and soda. The Aztec felt like autumn in California, brought to Dubai by Ginger Moon, made from the pisco 1615 acholado, gin, apple juice, cinnamon syrup & lemon.

And now we reach the end of this culinary adventure with the Chocolate Chips Cookie Pie whose peanut butter nitro ice cream was also created from scratch in front of us and nothing is more pleasurable than watching the process and really diving deep into what you're about to eat.
The gooey chocolate chip cookie pie perfectly paired with the creamy richness of peanut butter nitro ice cream, offers a comforting yet sophisticated finish to your culinary experience; and let's definitely not forget the Strawberry Cheese Cake - a stunning piece of colorful dessert made out of a strawberry olive oil salad with tangerine leaves & tangerines and alyssum flowers.
