MTV Music Video Awards 2024: iconic Red Carpet looks & highlights!

 

 

Megan Thee Stallion hosted the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards show at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Taylor Swift came into the show with 12 nominations, the most of any artist. Post Malone followed with nine nominations, while Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter each had six. Top it with have a history of memorable and provocative red carpet looks of the VMAs. 

 

Katy Perry received MTV’s Video Vanguard Award and performed a career-spanning medley live. Other performers this year included Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla and Rauw Alejandro. The pre-awards show was performed by LE SSERAFIM.

The VMAs turned 40 years old this year. How did Taylor Swift make history in the 40th edition? She took home the biggest award of the night — video of the year — in addition to six others, tying her with Beyoncé for the most VMA wins ever! This is the stuff of VMAs legend. In other words, Swift and Beyoncé now have 30 Moon People each to their names.

 

Iconic moments from VMAs past were honorably recreated; host Megan Thee Stallion took the stage with a live snake roped around her body as an homage to Britney Spears’ 2001 “I’m a Slave 4 U” performance.

 

 



 

Did you know? Beyoncé was nominated for three awards tonight — song of the year, best trending video and most iconic performance — but sadly did not win any. While LL Cool J's performance took the audience into a time machine back to the early 90s. Some classic hip hop and genre staples were poured into his VMAs performance including what marked as his comeback performance as he did a track from his upcoming new record "The Force".

 

 

 

 

Anitta wins the best Latin VMA for “Mil Veces.” 

 

The Brazilian artist takes strenght from the support of her fans worldwide and thanks them for the award!

 

 

 

 

Chappell Roan wins the best new artist VMA.

 

After making her VMAs debut with a performance of her breakout hit, "Good Luck, Babe!", Chappell Roan took home her first Moon Person for best new artist.

 

 

 

 

After winning the Moon Person for best rock earlier in the evening, Lenny Kravitz performed on the VMAs stage for the first time since his 1998 appearance with Madonna.

 

Kravitz gave the crowd a full taste of his 1993 VMA performance of "Are You Gonna Go My Way" along with two 2024 releases, "Human," and "FLY." 

 

 

 

 

Eminem wins the best hip-hop VMA for “Houdini.”

 

He opened the 2024 MTV VMAs with his performance of 'Houdini'!

 

 

 

 

Megan Thee Stallion didn't just host, she delivered the probably most-awaited song that night, "Mamushi" alongside Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba.

 

The viral hit whose video won best trending video.

 

 

 

Katy Perry delivers a performance of her most nostalgic hits just before accepting Vanguard Award.

 

"I Kissed a Girl" and "Teenage Dream were definitely on that playlist.
