What we know about the Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony

 

 

26/07/2024, hundreds of millions viewes, 94 boats, 6KM parade route, 10500 athletes are just a few of the main figures of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

 

Celine Dion and Lady Gaga will perform Édith Piaf's classic “La Vie en Rose” in a duet and Snoop Dogg will carry The Olympic Flame through the Saint-Denis neighborhood as the torch makes its way to the Olympic Cauldron, but a couple of the highlights around the Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony happening on Friday, July the 26th - dubbed as the largest in Games history!

Expected fireworks of the opening ceremony

 

 

The Opening Ceremony attracts hundreds of millions of television viewers worldwide, as well as tens of thousands of delighted and enthralled spectators inside the Olympic stadium. However, host city Paris is breaking a lot of traditions this year.

 

Starting at 9:30PM Dubai time, all eyes worldwide will be set on their screens to catch the event and all the buzz around it, while games will officially launch at 10:24PM. If you're in Dubai for the games, keep reading to find out the best spots to watch the action!

 

 


Stage for opening & closing ceremonies

 

 

A choreographed extravaganza, featuring an amazing explosion of colour and music! Did you know that Paris will be the first ever Olympic Summer Games to hold the Opening Ceremony outside of a stadium?

 

The Opening Ceremony is set to be held in the heart of the city along its famed main river: the Seine. The parade will consist of 10,500 male and female athletes who will sail down the river upon 94 boats, each boat representing the participating country.

 

 


The most iconic parts of Paris will be showcased during the ceremonies

 

 

The parade will begin at the Austerlitz Bridge and culminate its 6 km-long route in front of the Trocadéro. This year will be the first time the Opening Ceremony will be held outside of a stadium in the history of the modern Games!  It will be open to all: residents from Paris and its region, as well as visitors from all over France and around the world, making it an almost free event with no admission fee to most spectators, first come first served kind of basis maybe? Truly fascinating.

 

 


Marathon Olympics Route unveiled from Paris to Versailles

 

 

This will be her first performance since being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in December of 2022- Céline Dion gets ready to take to the Olympics Opening Ceremony musical performance in duet with Lady Gaga, paying homage to French icon Édith Piaf and her timeless song "La Vie En Rose".

Snoop Dogg will be an Olympic torchbearer, carrying the flame for its final stretch before Friday's opening ceremony. 

 

A star-studded cast has been selected to carry the torch on its final route, including actress Salma Hayek and rapper Snoop Dogg. 

 

 

 

 

The UAE will have 14 male and female athletes who will compete in equestrian, judo, swimming, cycling and athletics events at the Summer Games. Safiya Al Sayegh is all set to make history as the first Emirati female cyclist at Summer Olympics.

 

The UAE National Olympic Committee announced the country’s official delegation to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Visa and Emirates NBD partner to sponsor first Emirati woman cyclist Safiya Al Sayegh for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

 

Visa-Emirates NBD partnership also includes a series of events and promotions leading up to The Olympic Games, such as a chance to win a trip to Paris, and the hosting of the Visa Olympic Games Village in Dubai! 

 

The UAE will also have an ‘Emirati House’ at the Paris Olympics.
