Arafat Day 2024 - Saturday dry day in Dubai

On Arafat Day, Dubai strikes a delicate balance between respect for religious observance and the city's vibrant social scene.

Arafat Day, the day preceding Eid Al-Adha, is a significant time for Muslims, marked by reflection and worship. This year, it falls on Saturday, June 15, 2024, with the Dubai Department of Economy & Tourism (DET) issuing specific guidelines to local venues.

Quiet Celebration: No Entertainment Activities - In a circular sent to hotels, restaurants, bars, and tour operators, the DET has requested the cessation of all entertainment activities and parties from Friday, June 14, 6:30pm, to Saturday, June 15, 7:30pm.

The circular, titled "DET Instructions Regarding Wakfat Arafat 2024," outlines the restrictions and emphasizes the importance of adhering to them in respect of the holy occasion.

Regular Operations Continue - Despite the ban on entertainment, Dubai's famous brunches, restaurants, and sports events will continue as usual. This means residents and tourists can still enjoy dining experiences and watch football games in a more subdued atmosphere. The DET has made it clear that while parties are off the table, the sale of alcohol remains permitted, allowing for a tempered form of social gathering.
