The area formerly known as the Nakheel Mall rooftop evolved into St Regis Gardens, enhancing The St Regis Dubai, The Palm with its culinary offerings. Guests of the hotel and Dubai locals had the opportunity to enjoy a variety of leading restaurants, featuring a mix of renowned international brands and local favorites. Several establishments, such as Signor Sassi, Tresind Studio, and Chez Wam, were operational, with more slated to open in the subsequent months.

 

Wellness Spots

A new wellness center, yoga retreat, and health-focused eatery were introduced to a charming villa in Jumeirah. Opened since May, Samadhi Wellness boasted two yoga studios, Reflect, featuring infrared heaters, and Connect, which expanded into the garden in milder months. The facility also offered a sauna, an impressive pool, an ice bath, hair therapy rooms, a peaceful garden sanctuary, a nutritious café, and a retail shop. As a haven led by women, it positioned itself as a "middle space between work and home", welcoming guests to find balance, de-stress, and escape burnout through connection and relaxation.

 

Fiker Library

 

 

In November, Dubai's literary scene celebrated a significant event as the Fiker Institute introduced its new politics and culture library at Alserkal Avenue, the city's cultural center. Established two years prior by Emirati writer Dubai Abulhoul, the Fiker Institute had aimed to transform the international perception of Arabs and the Middle East, growing into a catalyst for change. Its collection, featuring over 15,000 bilingual books on politics and culture, encouraged visitors to rethink their views on world history, global politics, and cultural narratives. Beginning with 40 book categories, this space was designed to be an ever-evolving 'living library', adapting and growing with community input and support.

 

First-ever Dubai Fashion Week

 

 

The inaugural Dubai Fashion Week was held in the Dubai Design District in March. This event, formerly known as Arab Fashion Week, heralded a new phase for the fashion scene in the region. Dubai, aiming to establish itself alongside renowned fashion capitals like Paris, Milan, London, and New York, hosted this event. It featured a diverse lineup of both regional and international designers, such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Moschino, Iris Van Herpen, Bouguessa, Amato, Bhype, and The Giving Movement, through a series of runway shows, pop-up exhibitions, and workshops.

 

Elrow XXL

 

 

The celebrated Elrow XXL music festival made its mark in Dubai with two days of dynamic partying in February. Hosted at Dubai Design District, the festival featured a stellar array of DJs, including Armand Van Helden, Idris Elba, Sam Devine, and Sonny Fodera. This occasion marked the debut of the grand and vivid El Traingulo de las Rowmudas stage in the Middle East. The stage, featuring a pirate ship at its heart and framed by the picturesque Dubai Canal, created a stunning setting for one of the city's most extravagant spectacles. Additionally, the location for the 2024 festival has been confirmed to be at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
