FATBOY SLIM HITS ZERO GRAVITY BEACH

Zero Gravity’s Beach Festival has played host to some serious sand covered crowds in its time, but none more so than their upcoming headliner Norman Cook aka Fat Boy Slim. With Cook performing to some of the biggest crowds of an electronic music event such as 250,000 people at Big Beach Boutique II in 2002 and his performance to 400,000 on Copacabana Beach in 2007. It is safe to say that Fatboy Slim knows a thing or two about making people get down in the sand.

Known as Quentin Leo Cook to his mum, the man of many sounds has since the very start of his career in music hit the big time. Scoring a number one hit with his band The Housemartins and their cover of “Caravan of Love”, Norman, then a bassist, retained this low-end theory for his future projects and hit number one again with his next band Beats International and their UK smash “Dub Be Good To Me”. Cook was then credited with several high-profile remixes including his best-selling reworking of Cornershop, Eric B. & Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest and of course Beats International, in the process Cook, alongside the likes of The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers gave birth to the genre Big Beat.

Fast forward to 1996 and Cook has now adopted the moniker Fatboy Slim and began his chart-topping career as one of the hottest electronic artists of the 90’s. With his album “Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars” certified platinum and hosting stand out tracks such as Star 69, Weapon of Choice, Bird of Prey and Song For Shelter Cook could do no wrong. In the years since, Fatboy Slim has gone on to reinvent himself several times over and retain his place at the top of the dance music tree.

Joining Cook at Zero Gravity on Friday, April 27thwill be another act that has gone on to establish themselves as viable festival headliners - Gorgon City. From their solo beginnings in the electro and bass house scene Foamo and RackNruin have both tasted moderate success, but it wasn’t until the duo released “Ready For Your Love” in 2014 that their star began to shine. The duo’s feel good take on house music has seen the pair work with the likes of Basement Jaxx, Wyclef Jean, Klaxons, Clean Bandit and have been rightly championed by Pete Tong. Also, featuring on the bass heavy festival line up is Zero gravity regulars and top party starts A SkillZ & KRAFTY KUTS a formidable duo that are so adept at cutting a scratching that their skills will defy logic.

As always, the party starts early at Zero Gravity (10am) and for AED350 you will be able to partake in the Beach Festival Brunch, this includesall day pool and beach access plus an all-inclusive brunch which runs from 1-5pm.If you just want to come down and dance and enjoy the pool and beach access regular door tickets are AED200, this will also give you access to terrace before 5pm.
