Dubai Night have done some digging and collected some of the city’s finest retro nights…
I LOVE 80’S @ SHO CHO, DUBAI MARINE CLUB & RESORT
One of the longest running retro nights in the city can be found down by the beach at the picturesque Sho Cho at Dubai Marine Beach Resort. The massively popular night dedicated to 80’s music has entertained legions of faithful followers for years now and with the backdrop coupled, sumptuous sushi and a carefree atmosphere that has been cultivated over time will have you coming back every week. Timings are from 6pm to 3am every Thursday.
FLASHBACK @ MAHIKI, JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL
Step back in time at Mahiki every Friday with Flashback, a musical look at what made the 80’s and 90’s so exciting. On arrival ladies will be welcomed with glittery treats and all guests can enjoy a bottomless beverage package for just AED200. Make sure you bring your dancing shoes as the party will run from 7pm to Midnight.
ROCK ‘N BAGA @ BAGATELLE, FAIRMONT HOTEL
Since its hugely popular beginnings at Bagatelle Miami, Rock ‘N Baga has caused quite a stir in Dubai. With the 80’s and 90’s hits being rock ‘n rolled out every Wednesday night by resident DJ Sam Starks. Chef Timothy Newton will also be pairing the retro inspired soundtrack with culinary blasts from the past but with that Bagatelle twist. The fun starts at 8pm and runs until 2am.
MIXTAPE @ INDIE, DIFC
Every Tuesday at Indie you will be taken back to the old school for a lady’s night with a twist. Think classic hip hop and r&b, but updated with a modern twist. As it is Tuesday the lucky ladies will enjoy a complimentary bar from 8pm to 11pm.
STEREO ARCADE, SHERATON HOTEL, JBR
One of the coolest retro venues in Dubai, Stereo Arcade has been a pivotal venue in recent years thanks to its reception arcade with some of the biggest and best arcade games from the 90’s and 00’s. Once inside the retro fest doesn’t stop there as every Thursday DJ Dean Curtis will take you back in time as he plays the hits from the last 2 decades. Doors open at 10pm.
JAZZ @ CAFÉ BELGE, DIFC
Café Belge at Ritz Carlton, DIFC has for the past 4 years become a haven for those that enjoy its 1920’s aesthetic and rightly so. Every Wednesday evening the inviting Belgian beer café is serenaded by the Swing Kings, a duo made up of talented vocalist Ciaran Fox and Paul Moutarde on sax. Not to be missed.
TROPICANA @ BARASTI
Club Tropicana where the drinks are free, well, almost. At AED205 for gents and AED105 for ladies the drinks are almost free. Throw in a party starting soundtrack from DJ Rohan Nunez and a tiki-tastic BBQ and you have yourself a great night that runs every Wednesday from 8pm to midnight. Make sure you arrive early to bag a space at the pool.
REWIND WEDNESDAYS @ THE PENTHOUSE, FIVE PALM
The Penthouse at Five Palm have also recently launched their very own weekly retro night called Rewind Wednesday and your host Tim Cheddar will be delving back in to the golden age of the 80’s and 90’s. Party starts at 9pm and with views found at The Penthouse you won’t want to leave until closing time.
