The Tower set to be a Monument to Dubai

Dubais latest supertower, predicted to be even higher than the Burj Khalifa is going to be a monument to Dubai as opposed to a commercial building. The Swiss/Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls recently revealed plans for the new structure to add to Dubais already glittering skyline. The Tower will stand at the Dubai Creek Harbour in Ras Al Khor and is expected to cost in the region of Dhs 3.65 billion according to the developers; Emaar Properties.

There will be no apartments in the new construction but there will be a boutique hotel, and observation decks so that visitors can have a truly birds eye view of the city. Dubai Creek Harbour is also getting a large retail district, which will be connected to The Tower, as well as an upmarket residential area.

Emaar Properties are financing the projects with a mix of equity and borrowing, with the plan already being given the go ahead by experts. Emaar already has off plan sales for 9 residential high rise buildings in Dubai Creek Harbour with prices starting at Dhs 1,400 a square foot. As well as residential apartments, there will be 22 new hotels built, with a capacity of around 4,400 rooms for guests to stay in. The Creek is known as the heart of Dubai and is home to a Unesco protected National Wildlife Sanctuary, which houses over 60 types of aquatic birds.
