DUBAI MOVES TO BAN SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES

Dubai Municipality has launched a campaign to implement UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 24 of 2013 and Regulations under Federal Law No 15 of 2009 on tobacco control, concerning the prohibition and control of tobacco use in public places for the public interest.

The municipality has called on all members of the community and concerned parties to cooperate with the implementation of the resolution as required, with the aim of building a healthy and safe community and a clean environment, free of tobacco toxins.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director of the Municipality, explained that the civic body is implementing the federal law as part of its commitment to the Federal Government and social responsibility in preserving public health in line with the vision of the municipality.

The move comes as a result of violations being reported from different parts of the emirate of breaches in the rules of smoking in public places.
